The application process was straight forward. It consisted of two main parts: 1) the application to the KCL study abroad team, which they filter down through their criteria and 2) the completion of the application with the external institution.

I began looking at the different Summer Programmes offered by King’s’ partner universities very early on in the year. There are so many different summer programmes on offer at fantastic universities all around the world so it took me a while to decide which one I wanted to apply for. Alexander Heeley, 2012-2013 at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Edith Baer grant recipient)

The money I received from the Edith Baer grant made a huge difference on my year abroad. Year abroad can be a very expensive year for a student, and makes certain aspirations a financial challenge, such as traveling around your destination country, as opposed to staying in the one host university city/town. However this grant enabled me to do the things that I wanted to do and see the things and places I wanted to see.
