We know that most of you have a lot on your plate right now and that you might not be thinking about applying for jobs just yet. That’s completely fine and it’s okay to want to focus on making the most of your degree – but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be thinking about your career at all!
There’s still so much you can do right now in order to get ready for your post-graduation job search, and here at King’s Careers & Employability we think it’s important that you also make the most of our services and events while you’re still at King’s.
Go to our events and workshops
There are so many cool events and workshops happening both on and off campus and it would be a shame if you missed out. Sure, you’ll have access to these events for two years after you graduate, but it really is a good idea to attend a few while you’re still kicking about on campus anyway!
We hold hundreds of events and workshops every year so it can be difficult to keep track, but the key thing is that you have a look at our Events Calendar on King’s CareerConnect to see if anything piques your interest.
Here’s a few coming up in February and March:
- Future Advantage: Deciding What To Do
- King’s Internships: Interview Workshop
- Discover Careers in: The Arts
- Discover Careers in: Education
- Graduate Careers and Immigration Options for Tier 4 Students
- Future Advantage: Interviews
- Future Advantage: Resilience
- Future Advantage: Gamification
- Discover Careers in: Energy
- China Careers Networking Night 2019
Book a one-to-one appointment
Now is also a great time to have a chat with one of our Careers Consultants or Application Advisers. Whatever stage you’re at – Discover, Focus or Action – we can help you make progress. Even if you are not sure where you are on your journey, you can still come and see us and we can help you work it out!
If you want to chat to a Careers Consultant about anything careers and employability, whether that’s relating to a particular sector, how to find an internship, how to decide what to do, or about an interview/assessment centre you have coming up, you should book a Careers Guidance appointment.
Our Application Advice appointments are also available for those of you looking for some feedback on your CV, cover letter or personal statement. These are only bookable on the same day on King’s CareerConnect, from 7am in the morning Monday to Friday.
Make the most of it all and get ready for summer!
Summer will be here in no time, so now’s the time to make some final preparations! Make sure to pay our events and workshops a visit – they’ll help you focus your understanding of the sectors you’re interested in and you will develop new skills and gain information about job opportunities and internships.
Deadlines for some of our schemes and opportunities are also coming up! These include the Global Internships Programme, the King’s Undergraduate Research Fellowships, the Student Opportunity Fund, and the King’s Experience Awards!
