Student Life

Life at King’s is full of excitement and novelty for everyone. For internationals and home students alike, there are plenty of experiences to be had while at KCL. When I was just starting to solidify my plan to continue my education at KCL in the spring of 2020 I was immediately concerned about what else KCL had to offer me. Coming from a US university my expectations for student life were high, and I can say despite COVID-19 KCL has delivered a multitude of engaging and exciting student experiences online.

To get a full rundown of all the details please visit the KCL Student Life webpage here, but also keep reading to learn more about the highlights and must visit webpages, along with some of my personal experience with student life at KCL.

While on the KCL Student Life webpage you will see links to the many branches of student life, some really critical ones are the King’s College London Student Union (KCLSU) link where you will be able to read more about clubs, bars/cafes, student news, and KCL events. You will also see links to advice for Living in London, Volunteering, Student Services, and Careers tips. Each one of these can be extremely useful for all students and depending on your interests you may interact with some more than others.

When thinking about traditional student life experiences the KCLSU webpage is your number one spot to check. Here you will find a plethora of different opportunities and information to learn all about KCL. You can purchase memberships, create your own club, read the news, and so so much more! It was here that I found KCL Baking Society and officially joined in the Fall of 2020. You can also find information about KCL sport teams and see who to contact about joining. The clubs KCL offers a large range of focuses from hobby focused, to academic societies, and even societies centered around learning new languages like British Sign Language. There is really so much to get involved in, so be sure to check out all your options! Also, don’t worry too much if clubs are still meeting online next Fall, because it really is still worth joining. My experience with online meetings for the Baking Society has been wonderful, and all the other clubs are also having great events online.

The Living in London tab is also super useful as it provides budgeting tips, safety tips, travel advice, and general information about being in London! Definitely be sure to visit this page if you are brand new to London living because it offers some practical advice on how to get around and use Oyster cards, working in London, and general safety tips which are much needed when living in a new city. The volunteering section is also useful as it offers more information about the Student Ambassador Scheme which is an extremely great opportunity for some volunteer hours or paid part time work at KCL.

The final big link from the Student Life page is Student Services. This is a multipurpose link which will take you a page full of answers. Here you can find answers for questions related to applying to KCL, assessment procedures, document requests, housing support, fee advice, immigration and visa help, and much more valuable support.

I hope this helps to orientate you to the KCL Student Life webpage and its many links! If you have any other questions pertaining to this, please do contact a student ambassador via UniBuddy for more support! Also be sure to mark September 20th-24th, 2021 as this is next year’s Welcome Week! Welcome Week is a super exciting time to meet new people and a great opportunity to get involved in student life right from the start.

Thanks so much for reading!
