Life at King’s- Extracurricular Edition

Life as a university student in one of the greatest capital cities in the world can be overwhelming. With deadlines, exams and tests crawling in your mind, one needs to put themselves out there to take some stress off. Well, here at king’s, you must worry not buddy.

King’s College London has a diverse crowd with a wide range of activity groups and societies. With around 300 of these groups, there is always something for everyone. This set list ranges everywhere from societies related to your course, art, country, faith and even for leisure. Some of these fun little societies include a Baking Society, Book Club and even a Cat Society for our fellow feline lovers!

Want to sharpen your skills? We’ve got everything. For our budding writers, we have the creative writing society, for the youth minds, we have the Digital Literacy Society, for the party animals we have a DJ society as well.

Of course, such a wide range of options can be confusing too, but it’s not hard to make a choice since there is no limitation to how many you can join as long as you’re balancing your studies alongside. You can find all the relative information at the KCLSU website and even get the membership from there. If you just want to test the waters first, each society has their own social media page that tells you all you need to know before making the full commitment.

There are also various sports clubs for the fitness freaks to join and learn new things from, since different classes and sessions are held every week. All KCL students also have the access to the university gyms that are available at very reasonable prices.

I personally loved the King’s Poetry Society since it has had the most fun social events where you get to meet so many different people from all the different age groups. On days when I have wanted to let the steam off, the gym at my university accommodation has been a great saving grace for not just taking the stress out but also looking after my health and body.

Besides all this, if you’re a little bit of a nerd and really want to focus on your academics, I can testify to the fact that the social events at your course department are always going to be a fun way to familiarize yourself with the faculty, get to know your peers and do a little bit of a networking all while keeping it light and simple!

Things can be a little pressurizing and stressful, but nothing to worry about since KCL always got your back!
