So, who exactly are King’s Careers & Employability and what do we do?
Well, we exist to help you as students develop skills that are useful in the work place (that covers the employability part), as well support you to achieve career success both during and after your time at King’s. We are a team of just under 50 people who are here to provide you with the tools you might need realise these goals – whether that be a job, an internship or even continued education.
So how do we help you to achieve this?
We work with you to help bridge the gap between your education and your future careers through offering:
- guidance discussions (where you can discuss your interests and receive advice on potential careers and options),
- CV and application checking (which will allow you to present yourself at your best),
- practice interviews and assessment centres (to help you prepare for the task ahead),
- professional skills programmes (to help you develop the most sought after skills in the workplace such as effective team-working and communication). Side note: you may want to check out the King’s Leadership and Professional Skills Award which covers all these skills and more – a great addition to your CV/LinkedIn profile! (Deadline to apply is 12pm on Friday 29th September)
However, it doesn’t stop there. We also host a number of career fairs and many employer events to help you navigate your way through the available choices by bringing employers to talk to you. This includes our Law Fair – where you can hear from firms in the Magic Circle and beyond, to our Career Options Fair – which covers a number of industries including media and creative industries and our upcoming Part-Time Work Fair! Not only this, we also list an ever growing number of job and internship opportunities both in the UK and abroad on King’s CareerConnect. What is this I hear you say? King’s CareerConnect is where you need to be to access all of these amazing things – you can book appointments, register for events both on and off campus as well as apply for jobs.
So where are we? How can you find us
Well, if you haven’t yet – like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram where we regularly post competitions, memes and gifs to keep you in the know about all the great careers events coming up both on and off campus. Physically – I know, staying in bed is so much easier – we are based in Level 1 of the Macadam Building on the Strand Campus, and in the Henriette Raphael Building in Guy’s. We also run appointments in Waterloo and Denmark Hill – check our website for details. We also have a host of resources on our website to help you when you’re not on campus.
So that’s it folks – now you know who we are, we can’t be strangers. See ya soon!
