Are you a budding tv writer, hoping to get your foot in the door? Well, how does a talent fellowship at Netflix sound? We thought so! The Screenwriters’ Fellowship is looking for budding tv writers from underrepresented backgrounds, to shape a more diverse and inclusive industry in High End TV & Film.
The Screenwriters’ Fellowship is Netflix’s new talent initiative with Bisha K Ali, and in association with Sky, that will offer up to six successful applicants the opportunity for a year long programme of professional development – including mentoring and a paid placement.
What you’ll get
For each writer, you will gain a bursary of £22,568 to write an original script over the course of a year. Alongside this journey, you will have the chance to take part in monthly events and workshops, and undertake a placement (paid) in a Netflix or Sky writers’ room! You’ll pair up with an industry mentor throughout, along with special mentoring sessions with screenwriter Bisha K Ali herself!
How to apply
The Screenwriters’ Fellowship are looking for applications from writers of Black, Asian and other racial and ethnic backgrounds that are currently under-represented in TV and film industry.
Each submission will be assessed by an experienced script reader. Shortlisted applicants will then be interviewed and selected by a panel of industry experts.
