The Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences Careers team are currently recruiting for six Inclusive Careers Education Ambassadors (open to NMES only) and one Inclusive Careers Project Officer (open to anyone across King’s).

 

Inclusive Careers Education Ambassadors

Inclusive Careers Education Ambassadors (ICEAs) are King’s College London students in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences (NMES) who are supported by the Careers & Employability team to deliver careers education activities to their peers that draws from an understanding of lived experiences of marginalisation such as ethnicity, disability and gender.

The careers education activities will be co-created by the ICEAs and could include workshops, drop-ins, in-lecture shout-outs, digital resources or more. ICEAs will be paid for a total of 40 – 50 hours for the project between June 2024 and January 2025, including training and planning in a group with other ICEAs and the Inclusive Careers Project Officer, with support from the Careers Consultants.

Salary: approx. £16.07 per hour (paid via King’s Talent Bank).

Eligibility

  • You must be a student or recent graduate from the Informatics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics departments at King’s College London.
  • You must be available to work for 40 – 50 hours in total between June 2024 and January 2025, including at least 1-2 hours per week during Autumn term 2024. The role will involve a mix of online and on-campus work. It can be done completely online if needed.

Inclusive Careers Project Officer

The Inclusive Careers Project Officer will have a key role supporting the 10 Inclusive Careers Education Ambassadors with their education programmes during Autumn term 2024. The Inclusive Careers Project Officer will sit within the Careers & Employability team, reporting to Catherine Alcraft and Laura Oxley (Careers Consultants for the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences).

The role is part-time (14 hours per week) between June 2024 and January 2025 – exact work dates and times to be negotiated with the project managers, Catherine Alcraft and Laura Oxley.

Salary: Approx. £18.12 per hour gross. Please note you must have the right to work in the UK as well as a UK bank account in order to be eligible for this role. You’ll need to register on King’s Talent Bank and carry out the right to work check with them before being appointed to this role.

Locations: Working from home (if desired) and some on-campus working (Strand Campus).

  • You must be a student at King’s College London, or have finished a King’s College London degree in the last 2 years
  • You must be eligible to register with King’s Talent Bank, including holding a UK bank account.
  • You must be legally allowed to work in the UK from June 2024 and January 2025 (see note below relating to international students in their final year.)
  • You must be available to work around 14 hours per week between June 2024 and January 2025, including during Autumn term 2024 (flexible working and job shares welcome)
  • You should be available for as many of the following Inclusive Careers Education Ambassador provisional training dates in June/July 2024 as possible (all online). Part of your role would be to contribute to the Inclusive Careers Education Ambassador training, so this is important to your application.

Note for international students: This opportunity requires candidates to have the right to work in the UK and a UK bank account. We appreciate that international students in their final year may not yet have certainty about being able to work in the UK until January 2025. Unfortunately this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route as it does not meet the UK government requirements.
