Got CVs on your mind? Feeling like some quick and easy guiding feedback on it? Or perhaps a step-by-step guide to creating one? Well… you’re gonna love what we have for you!
With services increasingly going online and students wanting to jump-start their careers whilst being at home, we have seen an influx of traffic at the careers service – which we are very happy to welcome. With the growing demand, we have introduced new services to make sure that you get as much help as you need without always having to wait for an appointment!
CV Support Pathway
The first is a new ‘CV Support’ short course on ‘Pathways’ on King’s Career Connect for all students to be able to see the standards for a CV in the UK and make sure that they have done all they can to get their CV ready before they speak to an advisor. That way when you do get a full 20-minute appointment you can really get into the details of what it is you need help with, and maybe have a clearer idea of what you want to apply for. Also, if you don’t have a clearer idea, maybe it would be time for a Careers Guidance appointment – this would allow you to think about what your next steps are.

CV checker
The second is a ‘CV checker’ on King’s Career Connect and allows you to upload your CV to receive written feedback. This works on a first-come-first-serve basis which means that as soon as you upload your CV you will be placed in a queue. This has no capacity for being booked up, unlike appointments, which means the pool of students we can help in a week is only widening. Just upload your CV and request “submit for Review”.

With that in mind, if you have any questions in the meantime feel free to email careers@kcl.ac.uk – we are still always happy to answer your emails.
How do I know what resource to use first? What about booking an appointment?
If you have a CV for review please use the CV Pathway first (in the ‘Me’ icon at the top of the screen). This will support you in developing your CV and making it the best that it can be.
If you’ve already done this and are now looking for some concise feedback, use our CV Checker tool.
If you’d like more detailed feedback, you can also discuss your CV in a 20-minute appointment with a career consultant, you may book an appointment for this on King’s CareerConnect.
