For all full-time mathematics undergraduates at King’s, the Department of Mathematics is calling upon you to join the annual Spackman Competition, which will take place on Wednesday, the 15th of February, between 1:30-5 pm at K2.40 King’s Building.
The Spackman Competition, first held in 1978 and founded by an anonymous donor, commemorates the memory of Robert Spackman, a former mathematics undergraduate. You’ll be solving a set of challenging yet approachable non-routine maths questions.
Come individually, or with a group of friends! In each round, participants will work together on a problem in groups of two, and students will be shuffled throughout the rounds whereby no two students are teammates more than once. This approach will engage students across the various year groups.
Don’t be discouraged as previous years’ winners have been from all academic years! Come and have fun and be mathematically challenged!
