Mariví Rodríguez-Quiñones

Mariví Rodríguez-Quiñones joined the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at King’s College London in 2000 as a teacher of Spanish for business at the Modern Language Centre, where she was responsible for the design and coordination of an assessment model for Spanish for Business approved by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. In 2006 she joined the Spanish Portuguese and Latin American Studies, SPLAS department where she currently convenes and coordinates year 2 of the Language Pathway as part of the BA Hons. in Spanish and Latin American Studies.  Between 2006 and 2010, she was External Examiner for the Spanish Language Pathway at the University of Nottingham. 

In her professional career, Mariví Rodríguez-Quiñones has combined her extensive experience of language teaching with her interest in theatre studies and theatre production. She has incorporated theatre techniques and methodologies in her teaching and in the development of a highly innovative and creative extra-curriculum programme: SPLAS PLAY. This programme has been widely recognised by students in improving their learning outcomes and their personal growth as confident foreign language speakers. The excellence of SPLAS PLAY has also been recognised at University level and has been awarded with the College Sustained Teaching Excellence Award in 2016.


Performance and Artistic Collaborations

Mariví Rodríguez-Quinones is the founder and director of the Spanish Theatre Festival of London, FesTeLón which aims to develop cultural and linguistic bridges between artistic communities in the UK and Spain through theatre and the arts. Recently, she has been invited to act as a member of the jury in the highly prestigious Almagro International Classical Theatre Festival. Through FesTeLón, she continues to seek opportunities for creating and offering learning opportunities for language and drama students from all educational sectors in the UK, including primary to postgraduate.
