Gemma Miller obtained her PhD at King’s and has been working as a lecturer in early modern literature and culture at various institutions, including King’s College London, Shakespeare’s Globe, Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London online, Ithaca College London Centre and Tufts in London. She is currently a Lecturer in Early Modern Literature and Culture at KCL providing maternity cover until April 2021. Gemma’s research interests are performance focused, looking in particular at contemporary performance of Shakespeare and other early modern dramatists. She published her first monograph, Childhood in Contemporary Performance of Shakespeare in April 2020. She will be co-hosting a seminar at the 2021 Shakespeare Association of America conference called ‘Child’s Play’.
During lockdown Gemma developed a MOOC for King’s – ‘Shakespeare: Context and Stagecraft’ – which has launched on the FutureLearn platform. She also provided a live introduction to King John and has edited 3 plays for performance for The Show Must Go Online, a made-for-digital platform that stages live performances of Shakespeare every week via Zoom.
