Karen Idesoh, one of our Careers Consultants, has shared The Time 2022 report around the top employers for women. It is important for you to see what employers are doing to promote gender equality as it shows good values and that they are working towards an inclusive workplace environment.
The Times published Top 50 Employers for Women on June 14 2022. The awards are the UK’s most high profile and well-established listing of employers taking action to drive gender equality at work. Delivered in partnership with Business in The Community since 2011 its aim is to inspire more employers to be bolder, braver, and faster in their actions to achieve gender equality.
The report highlights 50 UK organisations where employers are performing well in efforts to create gender-equal workplaces.
So why is this a report that should be read by both men and women? The answer –simply put, is that an employer who is progressive in their approach to gender equality is much more likely to be a progressive and innovative employer in many other ways that will directly impact you as an employee.
As a student or new graduate embarking on your career you want to figure out which employers have the mindset and commitment to take action in creating a skilled and inclusive workforce.
The Top 50 Employers Awards point you in the right direction, you can see that
- Parents employed by Diageo are eligible for the same fully paid 26 weeks, retaining benefits and bonuses regardless of gender, sexual orientation or whether they become parents biologically, via surrogacy or adopt.
- Bain & Company offer equal opportunities and rewards for all employees. As such all base pay and bonus ranges are standardised and non-negotiable at each level. Bain & Company openly shares compensation levels with employees to promote a culture of transparency.
But don’t stop at reading the report. Check out company policies online. Many employers showcase online their company policies on diversity, inclusion, caring responsibilities, parental leave, flexible working, in order to give prospective employees a sense of company culture.
