Students take charge: New student-led seminar series by Water & ARM programmes

Mark your diary now for Friday 7th November ‘The World Bank, Water Policy and Dams’

On seeing the seminars organised by some of the other MSc programmes in the Geography department, the Water and ARM MSc groups decided to organise seminars for themselves, inviting guest speakers in who are a specialist in their own right within industry. The inaugural seminar was hosted by Dr Naho Mirumachi, programme director of MSc Water: Science and Governance. Naho spoke about her upcoming book  Transboundary Water Politics in the Developing World (to be published March, 2015).

The second seminar in the series is being hosted on Friday 7th November at 2pm in the Pyramid Room by Prof Bob Picciotto. Bob worked for the World Bank for 40 years in water policy and founded the Evaluation department. Bob will be talking about ‘The World Bank, Water Policy and Dams’.

Future talks will include a round table discussion with PhD students, a visiting speaker from the Overseas Development Institute and a talk with Prof Tony Allan, Professor Emeritus, Department of Geography, who coined the phrase “virtual water”.
