‘What’s the Crack?’ podcast episode focuses on London’s Fabric nightclub

A new podcast from three researchers at the National Addiction Centre brings an entertaining and informative take on the evidence behind drugs and addiction news.

Rob Calder, Elle Wadsworth and Lindsey Hines produce a fortnightly podcast– What’s the Crack! Drawing on Rob, Elle and Lindsey’s knowledge and expertise in the drugs and addiction field, the podcast aims to improve public awareness of the complexity and reality of addiction, policies, stigma surrounding drug use and drugs scandals in the newspapers by exploring the evidence base. In an episode from 2017, the podcast featured a special look at Fabric nightclub. The club, which is located near to Blackfriars Tube, was shut down in 2016 due to concerns about drug use within the premises. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan criticized the decision and backed a deal between Fabric and the local council, and the club reopened several months later.

The podcast is supported by funding from the King’s College London Public Engagement Small Grant Scheme and Wellcome.
