This week we were saddened to hear of the death of Professor Raymond Gosling on Monday 18 May, aged 88.
Raymond Gosling was part of the Biophysics team from King’s that undertook studies into DNA during the 1950s, and with Rosalind Franklin took Photo 51, the photo that revealed its structure.
Professor Gosling last visited us here in the Archives in 2012, when he was interviewed for a Swedish TV documentary programme. He was friendly, self-effacing and insightful, and it was a real pleasure to meet him. At the time, our project archivist Chris blogged about meeting Professor Gosling – read more here, here and here
