To Fair or Not to Fair – is it Ever a Question?

We’re almost four weeks in to the first semester, where does the time go?! By now we’re hoping that new students have managed to find their feet and returning students have settled back in.

We’ve had a quite a busy couple of weeks over in Careers & Employability, between a busy Welcome Week meeting you all, our new late night appointments on Thursdays, to not one, but three King’s Careers Fairs! And we’ve got another three coming up:

But why go to the King’s Careers Fairs?

Work the room (3)

If you’re not sure what to do with your degree our Careers Fairs are a fantastic opportunity to get inspired, to hear about the range of roles that exist and to get you thinking about the different types of companies and organisations that exist.

Work the room

If we’ve said it once, forgive us, we’re saying it again: network, network, network! Speak with employers, get contact details, share yours. But remember, its not always about the quantity of conversations you have, aim for quality. It’s better to spend a little longer with an employer having a good conversation that will be remembered than to have ten 30 second conversations.

Work the room (2)

Hear straight from employers about internship and graduate opportunities that are on offer, how to apply for them and what employers look for in applications.

We’re sure you’ll learn a thing or two by coming along to one of our Careers Fairs! Maybe you’ll pick up a tip about how to present your CV, what to include in your cover letter for a specific career or different career options with your degree.

There are of course a couple other perks to attending our fairs, not only will you get to meet employers, you’ll also meet members of the lovely Careers & Employability team who also run quick 5 minute CV checks at our fairs and there are usually some great freebies up for grab!

What more convincing could you need? Don’t forget to book your place at our upcoming Kings Careers Fairs – we’ll see you there!
