How Playing Mobile Games Can Land You a Graduate Role

Enter Debut, a clear and practical example of how millennials can thrive in the digital age. We can all admit that we do everything on our phones nowadays, whether that is groceries, online shopping, procrastinating too much or anything that is a passing fancy. With more than 40 companies and 80 multinationals on Debut’s board, make sure to read on to find out how you can land that graduale role through an app on your phone…

Hold on, how is Debut different?

Debut is very different: employers use the app to reach out to students for either internships or graduate roles, instead of the other way around. All you need to do is register through the app and you’re sorted! Companies are actively looking for candidates with particular skills to apply for and eventually fill their roles; therefore it’s important to take some time to complete your profile. If you’re lucky, you might even be sent an interview invitation without having to submit an application beforehand. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Companies chase students, not the other way around

Fast track your way!

The significant characteristic of Debut is their ‘fast track’ progress. A recruiter may approach you on Debut and either:

  • Invite you for an exclusive event
  • Grant you a video interview before a final face-to-face interview
  • Allow your application (for whatever role that is) to be marked ‘fast tracked’
  • Motivate you to play a video game

With regards to the last point, I can understand your confusion! However, Debut has built games for corporations such as L’Oréal and Deutsche Bank which will allow candidates to win an internship, based on their high score.

My experience & tips

Personally speaking, I have found Debut incredibly helpful as a second year student with an interest in exploring internships. I have recently attended an invitee only Goldman Sachs event about their Operations divisions (the core business) and this was a great opportunity to not only learn more about the company and industry, but also to actually get to know their people and find out how they progressed their career. Recruiters will be attending every event to welcome you and this is a great opportunity to make an impact at (highly competitive) companies. Also, dress to impress.
