Grants for department Widening Participation activity

The WP Grant scheme is inviting bids for £2,000-£10,000 for departments and individuals to deliver widening participation initiatives in 2015/16. The scheme provides support to widening participation initiatives using the expertise of King’s staff. It provides funding to activities that can demonstrate ability to contribute to the university’s widening participation strategy and aims. In addition to financial support, bid holders will receive support from the Widening Participation Department to deliver activity, including support with evaluation, engaging schools and young people and space for activity on campus. Bids could include outreach activity with young people, events for schools, teachers and advisors or support for students on-course at King’s.

Applications open online from 1 May 2015 and close on Friday 19 June 2015.

PhD Students, King’s Widening Participation Department needs you!

The Widening Participation Department at King’s are seeking current King’s PhD students who would be interested in supervising an academic piece of work, produced by A-level pupils. We provide full support and a payment of £150 per student completing an assignment with your support. This is a great way to use your experience of university to help pupils in understanding and developing the skills necessary to be successful at a competitive university. In addition, this offers you an opportunity to work with young people and gain experience of supervising, marking and providing feedback on academic work close to undergraduate level. Please see attached document for full job description.

This role requires you to be available in London for around 10 hours between May and September 2014 to meet with and provide feedback to your tutees. Closing date is 25th April 2014. The online application form can be found here.
