A major issue affecting international students studying in the UK is that they often require a UK guarantor for private rented accommodation, or they have to pay the full cost of entire contracts up front. King’s and KCLSU have been working together on a solution for our students and are pleased to announce that we have launched a new scheme. It is available to any non-first year undergraduate and all postgraduate students from outside the UK. Students interested in applying can find out more on the housing section of the website.
Chris Shelley, Director of Student Services, said; ‘We have known for a long time that this is a big issue for our students and I am delighted we have found a solution that caters for their needs and is available to all our international students who aren’t in their first year of an undergraduate degree. We have consulted students on this scheme and they were very pleased with it, and KCLSU have been key partners in identifying and agreeing this solution, which I am confident will have a very positive impact on the experience of our international students. Combined with our guarantee of a room in King’s accommodation for all first year undergraduates this means King’s is providing a housing solution for every single one of our international students should they require it.’
The King’s Learning Institute seek 4 more current King’s students to help develop their Student Services Engagement project. This is an opportunity to apply your existing skills in a new situation and receive training in basic social science research methods and qualitative data analysis.
