‘Life beyond the PhD’
Windsor 30 Aug – 2 Sept 2016
Cumberland Lodge, The Great Park, Windsor

The Graduate School is pleased to offer fully-funded places for two PhD student to attend this year’s ‘Life beyond the PhD’, Cumberland Lodge conference.

Cumberland Lodge, an educational charity, is organising its 9th residential conference to give PhD students from all disciplines the opportunity to hear doctoral graduates recount the life decisions they made after their PhDs, as well as hearing from experts in higher education policy, communication, career development and impact. Here you can exchange ideas, practices, experiences and aspirations.

The key to the event is that students are shown that PhDs have demonstrable value both inside and outside academia, and the support networks established by these events have proved to be invaluable whatever the future holds.

Participants will be also expected to give a 10 minute presentation on their research pitched at non-specialists.

The Graduate School will cover the conference fees, all accommodation (in shared rooms), and any reasonable travel expenses to and from London.

If you are interested in attending this conference and would like to apply for a funded place supported by the Graduate School, please email us a brief justification (200 words maximum) for your proposed attendance at graduateschool@kcl.ac.uk, with the subject title ‘Cumberland Lodge’, by the deadline of 5pm, 27 May 2016. The justification should explain how you think you would benefit from attending the conference and presenting a paper.
