Head of Marketing and Communications at Sparrho
It’s not everyday that you find a PhD biochemist hanging out in the Shoreditch tech scene, but Sybil Wong of Sparrho is certainly not your average scientist. After researching the interactions of a lung tumour suppressor protein with the microRNA gene silencing pathway, Sybil’s urge to accelerate the translation of academic discoveries into real-life impact led her to jump straight into the heart of the entrepreneurial world.
After managing the global life sciences and healthcare accelerator OneStart, Sybil joined Sparrho (sparrho.com), a startup aiming to democratise scientific knowledge through a blend of machine learning and expert curation, founded by Oxbridge scientists Vivian Chan and Nilu Satharasinghe in 2013.
