Beyond the Ivory Tower is a Postgraduate Research Conference on the 18th of September 2014. The conference is open to all University of London research students, across all disciplines. The aim of the conference is to encourage research students to reflect on the significance and applicability of their academic research to society. As such, the organisers are looking for papers and posters that address at least one of these themes:
a) the impact of research,
b) public engagement and academia,
c) the relationship between theory and practice,
d) challenges in engaging with the public.
As well as receiving critical feedback on their work, and networking with other researchers, participants will also be able to engage with academics experienced in disseminating their work to the public.
Abstracts for posters and papers will be selected according to their relevance with the conference’s core themes. Abstract submission opens on 9th April 2014, and closes on *20th June 2014*. We are pleased to inform you that the Graduate School at Royal Holloway, who are organising the event, will cover printing costs for accepted posters, provided these are sent in pdf format no later than 12th September 2014.
