But before you get too comfortable, the Department of English at King\u2019s has some exciting events lined up that you won\u2019t want to miss! So, dust off those Christmas jumpers, and check out the latest happenings!<\/p>\n<p><strong>PGR Winter Party \u2013 December 10<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First up, for all our PGR students, we\u2019re kicking off the festive season with a <em>Department of English Winter Party<\/em> on <strong>Tuesday, 10 December<\/strong>, from <strong>6-8pm<\/strong> in the <strong>Somerset Room, King\u2019s Building<\/strong>. It\u2019s first-come, first-served, so don\u2019t delay! Expect a festive buffet, mulled wine (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), cocktails, and plenty of opportunities to mingle with your fellow PGR students. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickettailor.com\/events\/facultyofartshumanitieskingscollegelondon\/1459010\">Sign up here<\/a> to secure your spot!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Weekly PGR Research Seminars<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Outside of the Christmas festivities, the department is still running its regular <strong>PGR Research Seminars<\/strong> every Wednesday, including on <strong>4th and 11th December<\/strong>. These seminars are a great chance to dive into the latest research projects from your peers. Head over to <strong>VWB3.01<\/strong> from <strong>12:30-1:30pm<\/strong> to listen to presentations, engage with respondents offering constructive feedback, and contribute your own insights. These discussions are designed to help speakers reflect on their research, tackle challenges they may be facing, and foster cross-disciplinary conversations. It\u2019s a fantastic opportunity for collaboration and intellectual growth!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract Meeting \u2013 December 4<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t miss the final <strong>Abstract Meeting<\/strong> of the semester, happening on <strong>Wednesday, 4 December<\/strong>, at <strong>6:00pm<\/strong> in <strong>Bush House (SE) 1.05<\/strong>. This informal, student-led research seminar is a chance for presenters from the English and Comparative Literature departments to share their work, get feedback from their peers, and enjoy some social time. There will be wine, snacks, and\u2014afterwards\u2014a trip to a nearby pub for those who are in the mood to continue the conversation!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Three Minute Thesis Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And finally, for those looking for a little friendly competition, <strong>King\u2019s College London<\/strong> is hosting a <a href=\"https:\/\/training.kcl.ac.uk\/kcl\/#he\/dev\/eventDetails,;em,providerCode=PGR,providerOrgAlias=kcl,number=600,;\"><strong>Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition<\/strong><\/a> this winter! This exciting challenge asks you to present your research in just <strong>three minutes<\/strong>\u2014clearly, concisely, and in a way that\u2019s accessible to a non-specialist audience. It\u2019s a fantastic opportunity to refine your presentation and communication skills, all while competing for a <strong>\u00a3750 prize<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Want to learn more?
