{"id":39,"date":"2016-01-12T15:46:04","date_gmt":"2016-01-12T15:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kcl.ac.uk\/english\/?page_id=39"},"modified":"2024-10-02T13:53:05","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T12:53:05","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kcl.ac.uk\/english\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>King\u2019s English<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>King\u2019s English <\/em>provides a means of sharing current research, ideas and activities in and around the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/artshums\/depts\/english\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of English<\/a>.\u00a0 It showcases the department&#8217;s distinctive programme of teaching and research collaborations with local institutions, including the British Museum, the British Library, Shakespeare\u2019s Globe Theatre, the National Theatre, and the Museum of London. Our approach is pluralist and outward looking, and we aim to create a community of readers that bridges divisions between specialist and general, creative and academic, historical and theoretical approaches to literature.<\/p>\n<p>The department has grown in recent years to include around 60\u00a0academics and writers, and over 100 PhD researchers, who are committed to contemporary directions in literary and cultural studies, from the Anglo-Saxon period to the present day, across a broad sweep of geographical locations and national traditions, genres, styles and media.<\/p>\n<p>You can
