They found that stalking was often misunderstood by the police and the CPS\u00a0and went unrecognised. The report suggests a single accepted definitions of stalking and harassment would help\u00a0combat this\u00a0problem\u00a0leading the way for\u00a0stalking specific powers\u00a0to be\u00a0used to search premises and seize evidence. The authors also\u00a0identified that crime recording for these types of crimes are often\u00a0inaccurate and this is important in terms of allocating police resources\u00a0to decide\u00a0where and how to\u00a0allocate officers and how to spend local\u00a0budgets.
