Events and Workshops by the Violence, Abuse and Mental Health Network

Trauma-Informed Approaches workshop

On the 7th November 2019 VAMHN based at Kings College held a “policy lab” (a structured workshop) which asked participants “what is needed for a Trauma Informed Approach to be effectively implemented across all relevant public service settings?” The day brought together people working in policy, academia, and the third sector and people with lived experience. VAMHN are currently working on the post-workshop materials, which we will make available on our website, but in the meantime a resource is available on their website which summarises key information about trauma informed approaches, which you can view website here. Thank you to the King’s Policy Institute for hosting and for everyone who came for making the day so dynamic and interesting.

Resilience Workshop

On the 4th November 2019 network member Dr Helen Adams from the Centre for Integrated Research on Risk and Resilience and colleagues held a workshop on “Resilience to Transformation” as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences. The workshop explored differences between geographical and psychological definitions of resilience and considered their application to violence, abuse, and mental health. You can find a selection of slides and the key messages from the day on his twitter feed here.
