HERON is a fast growing, leading consultancy in health economics, health outcomes, pricing and market access services to pharmaceutical and medical devices companies on a global basis. With increasing pressure on health services to provide treatments that are not only effective, but also cost-effective, we have soaring demand for our services. This role is within HERON’s Health Economic Modelling Unit (HEMU).
HEMU is a consulting agency for imaginative and scientifically valid modelling in health economics.
We work with pharmaceutical and medical devices companies to assess and express the economic value of their own products and their competitors. Our work is highly varied, from considering innovative new drugs in chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, novel surgical options in ophthalmology or new screening technologies to improve the early detection of cancers. The results of our research are discussed by top-level clients, scrutinised by public bodies and published in peer-reviewed journals.
We are looking for talented graduate and postgraduate analysts who enjoy researching and applying mathematical and statistical modelling techniques to scientific issues in healthcare and medical economics, so as to provide commercially valuable insight and strategic solutions to our clients.
The type of projects conducted will include cost-effectiveness and budget impact analysis of drugs and devices. It will also include wider forms of modelling, potentially in conjunction with the life scientists of the Evidence Review unit or the pricing and commercial specialists of the Pricing & Market Access practice. Projects may variously employ mathematical, statistical, economic and operational research modelling techniques applied to the evaluation of drugs and devices in a wide range of health conditions.
Within project teams under the guidance and leadership of senior team members, specific objectives of the role will be to:
1. Provide high quality, timely, scientific/strategic solutions to meet client needs
2. Conduct and analyse primary and secondary research, which will shape the development of strategic recommendations
3. Build and check health economic models, using appropriate software tools, to elucidate and express the economic value of clients’ products
4. Systematically search for and synthesise disparate qualitative and quantitative health economic evidence, and interpret meaningfully
5. Write, refine, review and critique sections of reports, journal manuscripts and other deliverables for client or external delivery
