Finding & Applying to Opportunities

New opportunities will be posted on King’s CareerConnect, over the next few months. Please note that if you are interested in applying for the Summer Scheme vacancies, you must first locate the ‘Exclusive Internships for King’s Students’ tab, and click ‘Search and apply’.  You can also find the Kings Internship Team on Facebook. They regularly post alerts to all new vacancies on their Facebook page so why not like their page so you don’t miss an opportunity!

Research Consultancy Projects for PhD students

As part of the King’s Research Consultancy, King’s Together is seeking a post-upgrade PhD student at King’s College London to work on a sub-project as part of an exciting new project to research patient flow in a hospital environment.

The projects will commence in February 2017 and will run for around 3 months, for one day per week. The consultants will be paid £125 per day.

The closing deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Sunday 19 February 2017.

Job opportunity – Arts & Sciences Focus Group Facilitators 

Would you like to to gain paid experience in facilitating focus groups?

The Arts & Sciences Diversity & Inclusion team are seeking PhD students who are knowledgeable of qualitative research methods and who want to put their theory into practice. We need help in running focus groups across Arts & Sciences to enhance our work on diversity & inclusion.

PhD students who pass minimum standards and complete practical training will have their details entered into the Focus Group Facilitators Register for departments to contact and commission for focus group work.

If you have a question about the King’s Internships Schemes and wish to talk to one of the King’s Internships team in person, you can come along to one a King’s Internships drop-in session.

At the Drop-Ins, the King’s Internships team can help you by:

  • Explaining the different stages of the King’s Internships application process and how the programme works;
  • Advising on what you can do to help your application stand out;
  • Answering questions regarding specific internship opportunities advertised on the King’s Internships portal;

Qualitative Evaluation Assistant for Arts and Health Innovation

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced qualitative health researcher, to assist with interviews and surveys for the evaluation of an innovative performance and digital resource on living with cancer.

The Role

The research student will be required to:

  • Theme the survey responses (there is also room for the researcher to input into the design of the survey)
  • Conduct 5 x 20 minute interviews, face to face or by telephone
  • Write up the survey responses and interviews as a report

Person Specification

  • You need to be a Post-Graduate student or similar
  • Have experience of:
    • Conducting sensitive qualitative interviews in a health setting
    • Theming qualitative surveys
    • Producing concise reports for a non-academic audience using qualitative data

35 hours of work are needed between January and March 2017. The post will start on 20th January 2017. The appointee will be paid £16.85 per hour.

Science Without Borders – Volunteers Needed

Are you looking for some volunteer experience? Keen to share your love of science? Want to inspire young minds?

Scientists & Co. are recruiting volunteers for their Science Without Borders programme to speak at some host schools in the U.K. The programme aims to give children a glimpse into the world of science, and the life of a scientist.

Think you’re up for the task? Why not express your interest by completing a volunteer application form? Spaces are still currently available for you to speak to students about your cutting-edge research at one of the following schools:
